300 win mag or 7mm rem mag

Precisely , when you purchase, purchase in quantity, just like the handloaders do.

You can buy multiple boxes of factory ammo, it is the smallest expense of the hunting season, why be tight?

THEN if you forget, well, I'll take two cream and one sugar in my coffee.;)

I would have to agree with him. If you have a certain ammo (oddball or not) you like to use which almost everyone does. You should never run lower than 2 boxes before trying to find more. If you live 100km from a main center then you should call ahead and if they don't have it most places will order it for you. I know my local gun shop in Kindersley will order me whatever i need. We are by no means a big center. You just have to plan ahead. You plan everything else for a hunt as soon as you know you have been drawn or just know the opening date of a season so I'm sure we can plan ahead to make sure we have plenty of ammo.

I live 2hrs. from a "metropolitan area" and i never have any problem getting ammo, i went into my local hardware store and they didnt have the exact bullet i shoot in my deer rifle, no worries though because i keep a few boxes on hand, i asked the clerk there if it was something they could order and they ordered a few boxes in and i got one and they now stock it, part of owning a rifle that your local hardware store doesn't stock ammo for is keeping a few boxes on hand, and getting more before your all out, if you wait til you fire your last shell to buy ammo than id say you need to be more prepared, and you your self said that you can't please everyone, and that is true, the 30-06 is very popular but every 30-06 owner cant walk into the same store and buy there exact favorite load, therefore they need to keep some on hand, so therefore it doesn't matter what your rifles chambered in you still may not be able to buy your favorite load everywhere you go,it doesn't mean ammo is hard to get it means your favorite ammo is hard to get, this is where handloaders have a big advantage. . .

If you were to read your post out loud, right about the time you had to draw a breath would be a good time to use a period (.)

The difference in ammo availability between 7mm Remington Magnum and 300 Winchester Magnum is moot. Any place that has one, will have the other. They are in the top 10 most popular cartridges in North America!

I like an oddball chambering as much as anyone, but all the planning in the world won't help when the luggage carousel is spinning empty and your bag with the ammo isn't there. Not that the 7mm Rem or .300 Win is oddball.

There are times when any ammo is better than no ammo, and other times when the situation is out of your control. I like useing a 7mm STW, but when airlines are involved you can bet that it will stay home and a .300 Win will tag along for that slot. Not a .300 H&H, not a .300 Bee or a WSM.

You live in Nova Scotia- you can drive the length of the entire province in the time it takes me to get to a city one-sixth the size of Halifax, and are surrounded by massive east coast populated areas. Many of us live and hunt where there is no courier service, and are 5-8 hours drive one way from a very small city. Ammo availability is a huge consideration for anyone choosing a rifle that lives in the remaining wild parts of Canada (a lot of hunters), or hunts anywhere wild elsewhere in the world (I do both, as do others in this thread especially Dogleg). I see these arguments saying ammo availability isn't a deal breaker on a rifle purchase from folks in the Maritimes, Ontario and Quebec, etc etc. Keep laughing, but hunt enough, enough places and you will rapidly come to see what we're talking about.

Now here is one I love, the big guys says they can handle the big recoil therefore shoot bigger guns.

"I'm 7 feet tall and 320 pounds and I shoot a .470 Nitro express balancing on one foot atop a picket fence...derp...derp...derp"

We all know you gain at least two inches of c@ck length just by choosing the magnum chambering!
7mm cartridges, most notably the 7mm-08 is a fantastic choice for the wife and kid.
I would hazard a guess that 95% of the "local yokels" in my area that shoot belted magnums never take a deer over 150 yards. They couldn't even tell you where they were hitting at 500 yards. They're not bothered by recoil because they shoot five rounds a year off-hand!

The word "magnum" { latin for big t**s }rolls off the tongue nicely...and is certainly one of the greatest successful marketing schemes in the history of firearms, automobiles, ### toys etc. etc.

The one I love, is where someone recognizes their own limitations, but then makes the mistake of thinking that it applies to everyone.

300WSM... Go big or go home.... Run with the big dogs or stay on the porch... (add some other clever saying) ... puts a smile on your face after every pull of the trigger.... ya know ya want it

Or 375 H&H if you can afford the ammo

(I own neither by the way)

How's the 7mm recoil in a T3 ? ;)

T3's in general are schit. I had to sight in a T3 7RM for a friend this year. I shot 10 rounds of Federal Vital Shok 160 TSX and I was sore...complete and utter schit. With a limbsaver I'm sure it helps, but regardless I wouldn't take the time out of my day to grab one to throw on the dirt so my wiener dog could piss on it.

Praise the lord and pass the Sako's (or Model 700's) ;)
