And when's the last time you saw 308 Norma ammo at the local gas station when you lose your ammo through some accident and you're out in the hills hunting?
Sometimes I get the urge to have a custom 308 Norma built on a m700 action...

Mark; Except for the stock, Talley mounts & B&C Reticule, you have exactly described my 308 Norma Mag that I had built 15 years ago. Shilen tube, #5 Contour 25" long, shot like a house afire. Killed like the hammer of Thor :lol: Regards, Dave.

I cannot remember the last time I lost or forgot my ammo when going hunting!! :wink: :wink: Eagleye.

Agreed! That is always the argument, but I cannot remember ever forgetting or losing ammo in forty years of hunting.
What are you getting in 308 Norma?

The real advantage of the 308Norma is it's 1/8" shorter,in standard length actions,like the Ruger,it's a much better fit.You don't need the protected point Partions.That's why when I had a P-17 rechambered ,I choose the 308Norma.I use 300 brass resized.

Bottom line is that there is pretty much zero practical difference in ballistics.
If you own a nice .308 Norma or 30-338, then keep it.
If you ar ein the market for a new magnum .300, then look at the 300WM or 300WSM brass, dies and ammo are readily available, not so with the Norma or 30-338.

Now there's a nice rifle....I actually owned an M65DL in 308 Norma...never even fired it...there is one at a local shop in 7x61..
A local guy here has an M17 in 308 Norma that was sporterized by Globe Firearms....I'll get it someday..not that I really need a 308 Norma, I'd likely run my 300 Win reamer into it anyway......

I can remember a couple of times that the airline lost my luggage for me!! Not hunting but these things do happen!!
