l hope this is the right forum, l'm considering another rifle, just wondering which one of these would be best suited for both N. Ont. Deer and Moose.
Or any other ideas, or sugestions.

Thanks

both are good choices for longer range shots of deer and moose, with the right bullet

if you seldom shoot past 300 yards, you could also take a hard look at the 280 Rem, 308 Win, and 30-06.

you don't need a magnum to kill things ya know

.300 mag all the way....
bigger bullets, harder hitting, shoots as well as the 7mm, more kick but if your hunting it dose not realy mater when the adrenalin is pumping.
talk to ya all later

P.S. 500th post :D

Given the 2 choices I would buy the 7mm Rem Mag. If you use the 175gr bullets the caliber is superb on big game. I'm not a .300 mag fan.

I agree with T-Bart; I would recommend the .308 or .30-06...

The 7mmremmag is superb on game without using 175gr bullets. :)
I have killed deer, elk, moose, bighorn and pronghorn with 7mmbullets lighter than 175gr with great results. :)

.300 winmag! No doubt! Them 7mm throw itty bitty pills... Seriously  , the .300 WM does not kick that hard and you can shoot heavier bullets. I use mine with 200 gr partitions for hunting.

I have both. I like them both and if I could only have one, I would choose the .300 WM, but not by a landslide. And the reason is this. I am slowly getting into long range shooting and the .300 is a bit better at reaching far. Plus I like that the .300 WM brass is available from Lapua. But in your case I think it makes almost no diffrence at all. In fact I doubt the game will notice. In the same rifle the .300 does kick a bit harder, so depending on your recoil tolerance that may be a factor.
