Who did you have mill out those Talley rings?
 
Got a buddy in the states to taper the talley rings to 20MOA and "flute" them as well.
In PEI right now for Canada Day magic.....the business card is at home.
The guys name is Jeremy Laier...lives down in Wisconsin. He does them pretty cheap and can Cerakote them as well.

For a scope of that size/weight wouldn't you want a sturdy set of rings instead of a set of lightweight ones?

Scope is too low for comfort... even my factory Leupold scope on my Scout is not that low and allows for a scope cover.
 
Cheek weld was actually perfect for me when I had the scope mounted! Worked like a charm.
The scope itself is surprising light....I weighed it at 22.8 ounces! Compare that to a Nightforce of similar lens size and magnification which weighs 30+ ounces.
We will see how it all works when it's all together though...it's always an ongoing process!
Nonetheless I am fairly positive it's going to work perfectly.

I don't like the Talley rings for your application because if you want/need to swap the scope out then you're screwed. No option of having a scope in a second set of rings ready to swap out from one platform to another or to change applications. A good rail with QD lever-lock rings and you can go from a 2.5-10x to a 5.5-22x depending on the circumstances. They look nice, but they don't get me off.

I know the 20moa rail is what many use to ensure they don't hit the extreme of their scopes' elevation adjustment, however with a 23" barrel the round will likely be subsonic at somewhere between 8oo and 1000 yds.
I would humbly suggest that if the prime use of the gun is less than 700 yds, it would quite possible be more appropriate to use no offset on the scope rail, so you can keep towards the mid adjustment point on the scopes' erector. Just my .02 :cheers:

Gunsmith work done by John Marshall in Pictou, Nova Scotia.
Cerakote finish on scope, barrelled action, and stock done by Johnson Brother's Customs.

It's a TAB Biathlon Sling. It works great thus far! Only thing that's a must for me with this sling are sling swivel mounts on the side of the rifle instead of sling swivel studs on the underside of the rifle. With the mounts on the side it lets the rifle rest naturally against my back without the scope or bipod digging into me.
