Who carries large volumes of 168 grain Federal Gold Medal Sierra Matchking ammo in Canada? I am looking for a single lot of 1000 rounds.

spydr...

contact corlanes in dawson creek, they should be able to orderit for you if they do not have it in stock....

they regularly stock the 168 and 175 in the gold medal line as well as the Lapua 168 and 185 in thier match line. Corlanes carries some great ammo and his order to stock time on custom ordered stuff is quick.

Any problems contact ryan, at corlanes and he can help you....

Thanks Wes! Anywhere else? I found a great spot in the States aroun half price as everyone else. Be nice to find a good place here.

thats the only place I have seen, their was a guy in the EE selling 700 rounds of the 175 smk's gold medal.... I think for $1k for the lot which is a great price. And yeah I wish we could buy it for $1 a round like in the USA, hell next time I go down there I am stocking up....

my gun is a 1/10 twist and it loves the 175/185's.... for the limited shooting I have done with it (only 60 rounds down the hole so far... breaking it in ;) )

"...next time I go down there I am stocking up..." You can't. Violates U.S. law and you'll need the export permit.
Any place that carries Federal ammo should be able to order it if their supplier has it in stock. Epp's, for one, carries Federal ammo.

reload 308??? maybe if you are a match shooter imo. not much of a savings on reloading 308 when you put everything together, just by m/s and shoot lots. hand guns is another story and is a much quicker return on the investment.

He's talking about buying match grade factory ammo; a different bird from m/s alltogether IMO. Compare the price of a 500 lot of Sierra MK bullets, a couple pounds of powder, couple hundred brass, and primers vs. 500 rounds of Federal GMM ammo, and the savings are there.

Not to mention that he would be able to make rounds that would likely shoot as well or better in his rifle...

I dont know what country you live in, but, for the quality of ammo that I reload, I pay about quarter what I would pay for comparable factory loads!!!
I use 168gr Sierra Matchkings, 43.5gr IMR4064, CCI BR primers, Lapua Brass(I probably get 20 reloads out of the brass before its finished) so I dont know how anyone could say that there is no savings in reloading 308, unless that person didnt know what they were talking about!

After shooting some M/S out of my rifle yesterday, I vowed never to buy it again. I'd rather spend my money on accuracy and since I am not about to pay the price for assembled match ammunition, I'll reload.

Good news though, more M/S for the rest of you!

In all respect, are you a "one deer tag shooter" a year person? ;)

don't taze me guys, just what people have told me. i am a paper puncher with iron sights and i kill lots of paper is all. i don't hunt and i don't do matches, i shoot for the love of shooting. if i can hit paper at 300 yards with irons and surplus i'm happy.

One Amazing Bullet!

You want accuracy and don't care about the price. Do you want everyone @ the range to be jelious of you when you get 1/4 grouping with a 700 VTR 308 just using your bipod at 200 meters. Than this is the bullet that u need;
  1. Barnes X 165Gr Maximum Range
  2. CCI Primer
  3. IMR 4064 powder
Than it's thime to go to the mile long range and watch the pricks with there $1000's of dollars rifle's that are all tricked out drop there jaw drop  when you hit paper with your $700 stock rifle.

"...and surplus..." Milsurp ammo supplies are nearly dried up and it won't let you hit small pieces of paper at 300 yards.

If you're looking for cheap factory match ammo try Hornady...i shot some of their 168gr a-max factory stuff and it bettered the Federal GMM out of my Savage and my savage loves GMM...and it was $25 a box compared to $33 for GMM..from Wholesale..worth looking at i was very impressed.

speak for yourself, you need more practice lol.

Lol, something tells me you're gonna need one of these after making that comment!! :D

i can take it lol. when i go shooting its a good time, i don't worry about dime sized groups or moa. i shoot to enjoy the experience, and from experience i find hitting paper at 300 is a challenge but well worth the effort. kind of like hitting paper at 200 yards with rimfire. iron sights for me, god gave me these eyes and when they start to fail maybe i will give scopes a go.

jmo, have a good one.

Don't you just hate it when you step on your own ####:eek:You are dealing with a pretty tough crowd aka-jdub, lots of experienced shooters here. I also shoot iron sights, 300, 500 and 600yards is what we call short range. Long range starts at 800 and goes back to 1000 for us iron sight shooters. I enjoy punching hole in paper too, but it's allot more fun when the bullet hit the middle of the paper.
