308 or 270 for Moose -- which one?

moose gun

Back in '49 my dad came to BC from Saskabush, his first moose was shot that hunting season. He was getting off shift and spotted the moose on his way home,he had only three shells for his rifle. He loaded them into his rifle and took a rest off a nearby tree. The moose was about 75 yards and one shot to the neck and down it went. Since he didn't have his skinning knife with him,he sharpened up his butter knife that he had in lunchbox and gutted the critter. With some help from other hunters he got the moose into the back of the truck and headed for home.
His rifle .......a 220 Swift
So shoot what ever you are most comfortable with, the .270 and the .308 are very capable cartridges. (Bring a skinning knife)

If you owned only two rifles, a 308 and a 270, which one would you take on a moose hunt? --Hmm -- my choice would be the 270.
