.308 reccomendation

OP has a couple of decent guns with some character and history.... now looking for an equivalent bolt action, IMO that is not an Axis or X7 or American....

He also stated he's not looking to break the bank, nor does he want junk. The axis and X7 fit both those. Also he does not state he's looking for equivalent bolt action.

Remington 788; 308 is plenty medicine for moose with a well placed shot and this gun is a well kept secret. The carbine is a poor man's Gunsite Scout.

I dont think you will ever be in trouble with a 308, and shooting it will be a pleasant experience, i own many larger calibers but always end up using my Scout Steyr 308 for any serious hunt... It just kill them very dead... Just saying

I am always on the lookout for 308 rifles, lately i have been doing a lot of reading on the Haenel Jaeger 10 308 Tracker, this one could join the herd pretty soon... JP.

Since no one has thrown this out there yet, how about a CZ 550?

Options would be CZ 550 American, CZ 550 standard, or a CZ 550 full stock.

All come in 308 or 30-06, and are built like a tank.
