308 Suggestions

I have both a Ruger 77 Mark II All Weather (in 223)and a Tikka T3 stainless Lite (308) and while they are different concepts in a rifle, they are both keepers. I'd recommend either for hunting rifles, but don't buy just based on recommendation, you need to pick any rifle up, work the action, try the trigger, feel the fit and decide what works for you. If I had listened to the critics, I'd have bought neither gun, and in fact probably not bought any rifle at all.

For accuracy i don't think you can beat a rem. 700, pick the one with the features you like best, and fits you the best.

I agree with MBP that the remington extractors are too small. The Sako/Tikka's and Vanguards have a larger and better extractor. The Sako extractor is an option installed my many gunsmiths, they work very well.

But I would also agree that you need to go and handle a whole bunch of rifles and see which ones you like the best and make your decision on that.
