308 vs 30-06

You couldn't get two rifles to shoot properly (for any number of reasons) and that proves the cartridge is no good?

cou: I've got both 300WM's, and 30-06's.....last year I shot my yearly moose with a 308....so that proves the 308 is the best....anyone still :confused:
 
These are always entertaining. People complain that this has been beaten to death but just take a look at the post count. These are obviously the most popular posts. If we told people they weren't aloud to post things like this anymore, you guys would have anything to post about.

The thing I like about the two cases is reloading. You just need shell holder number 3 and the same bullets. Makes things simple in your storage. Plus the large number of other cases that use shell holder number 3.

Not to mention the number of other cases you can make out of either one.Virtually all of my rimless numbers in the herd can be formed from 308 or 30-06 brass,I really like that cause I do a lot of handloading and caseforming for my rifles.Just as much fun for me as shooting them.
 
The 30-06 just doesn't live up to hopes and expectations when using factory ammo . Many 30-06 rifles out there are running at lower velocities than most owners realize.

For me the .308 vs 30-06 thing is about the rifle they come in, not any difference in the cartridges. I own both and have hunted all the same game with both, and there's not a situation out there where something I would only wound with a .308 would have been killed stone dead with a .30-06.
 
Neither one is worth a pinch of coon sh!t compared to the 300 WM or Wby..........now these are real hunting cartridges.

No argument from me. I'm in the weird situation of having killed many, many hundreds of animals with a 30-06 and I still don't like it. It's sure no 300 mag.

4. 300 Win Mag vs. 30-06
5. 22LR and bear defense!

ps. just buy a 7x57 ... it'll do the job with less fuss and more class! :)
