308 vs 7-08 for all round hunting...

.308 should probably be a bit cheaper to buy and have more selection

If you're going to use only premium bullets, the 7 will do pretty well everything the 308 will, plus you can use lighter bullets for smaller critters.

Cool factor goes to 7-08, I was told once that a 7-08 is just a .308 in a tuxedo.

What's she going to be hunting? If deer is the biggest animal then the 7mm would be OK but throw elk or moose into the mix and the 308 wins hands down. You can look at all kinds of energy figures on paper, but the 308 is just one of those calibers that performs better on animals than it should.
