308 vs 7mm-08 rem

I have learned that the saying "Happy wife.....happy life" has profound meaning, believe me I'm on my third....no wait, fourth wife, and no one but me carries my balls around in their purse !!!!!

Lol.... Well, as you know Doug, I admire your work ethic and what you have built for yourself.... However, not all of us can afford 3 wife apocalypses and come out with a safe full of rifles..... Lol .....

Another feather in your cap I suppose....

I wager your wife is happy and you get to entertain your pursuits from what i see.....

My experience has been one or the other..... hence my solitary lifestyle... But I do have my two boys and the rewards that come from taking them hunting and shooting.... :)

Personally I'd pick the 308. I've never been one to care about "cool". I like going into any store that sells ammo, and being able to grab the ammo I want...and doing it cheap lol.

I'm so uncool that I have 3 30-06's, and a 308 lol.

I also have a 6.5x55 and a 303 Brit...and not a single round to shoot from either lol

Compare the ballistic of the 140gr 7mm-08 VS the 150gr 308.
And to bring the recoil factor to the od8 factor, check the non-existent ballistic of the 308 managed recoil.

Not bashing the venerable 308, but 7mm-08 is really a nice caliber.
 
recoil? I have a featherweight 243 that the perceived recoil is way worse from than my steyr scout with 180gr loads.

The 243 is a much sharper jolt, not something I would give a shooter that is sensitive to recoil.

Really? I have a fwt 30-06 and recoulmis pretty light. More then my 7mm-08 but not bad at all. My gf said her 243 has basically no recoil and the 30-06 was lots of fun

Negative on that one YD, first 2 we had nothing to divvy up, really so there were just your pots and pans kinda deal and neither wanted anything to do with the few guns I had at the time. The last one's only criteria in a divorce lawyer was that she had to hate men, which didn't necessarily mean that she knew much about divorce law, hence let's just say she got what she deserved when my lawyers and the judge was through with her..................
 
Unless that featherweight weighs under a pound and has a pencil shaped and size stock there is no way it kicks enough to annoy anyone, a heavy 30-30 kicks more. I have a 5.5 lb 243 here and my son shoots it fine, he's 75 lbs and 11 years old.

Now the harsh reality....

If you really want to talk numbers, which mean squat , a little secret , the 7-08 will always win in a drag race, just don't tell anyone. ;)

It bleeds less.
