Hi 3of30

Okay not to sound stupid rather terminology clarifying so I can intrepid your data to my brain.

You said coal 2.880”. You mean a Head to Tip of bullet measurement correct? Couple questions on that.

Does that 80 thou extended seating depth clear your magazine?
Does that extended seating depth put you on the lands?
Does that extended seating depth give you 1 caliber width of contact in the casing with your bullet?

Your mention ogive length, did you measure your rifles free bore from the ogive? If so what freebore gave you best results

Most loading data indicates OAL of 2.800” with a few showing 2.830” +/- 0.030 which means 2.800 to 2.860”
Yours at 2.880 is over everything I read so wondering.

Thanks

#### that savage has a tight chamber. Your ogive touches the lands at 2.124”? I just measured my Bergara HMRs chamber with a Hornady OAL gauge and double checked it. Got 2.266” Head to ogive measurements

Then for the heck of it I measured my factory fed gold match 168gr Head to ogive using my bullet comparator and got 2.224”. So my rifle has 0.042” Freebore using that particular factory ammo.

Your rifle with that measurement would mean if you used the same factory ammo as me it would be jammed 0.0100” into the lands? Something is sounding dangerous about that?

It's a shame I won't be shooting this for long. It is a very accurate and consistent load for this rifle. But, I'll be re-barrelling the Coyote in the very near future and moving on to something different.

This load is sure to work!
Between 42.7/43.0gn of Varget with a 175gn class of bullet, replicates Federal GMM ammo velocity.
Love this .308 low node been riding it for 3 years in 3 different setups now!

Here's my recipe for the 155gr Scenars...

Caliber: .308win
Rifle brand: PGWdti
Rifle Model: Coyote
Barrel length and twist: 24" 1:10" Krieger
Projectile brand, model and weight: Lapua Scenar 155gr
Powder brand and weight: Varget 47.2gr
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX: No
Primers: CCI BR-2
Coal: N/A (too long to mag feed)
Ogive length: 2.230" (.007" jump)
Brass: Lapua
Brass trim length: 2.005"
Distance to lands: .007"

Results at 100m: .290" (.139moa) 5 shots

Velocity (average): 3045fps S.D.=3.2 E.S.=10 (30 shot average)
Outside temperature: 24c
Wind and direction: N/A
Barometric pressure and other relevant data: 683m ASL, 101.0Kpa, 48% RH, .002" shoulder bump

I chose the 155gr scenars because of the competition consensus about four years ago....faster and flatter. According to iSnipe, it transitions right around 1200m (a moderate to high load).

pleaase confirm 47.2g varget ?????

So finally...for the love of everything green on this earth ...I did it .!!!!!!!
Here it is ...use at your own discretion and at your own risk
Fn fnar competition model
Benchmark powder
Ivi cases ....small base resized
Federal primers large 210 match
Coal 2.800
Sierra Tmk 175g bullets...
Info was taken from hodgdon web site
This load produced a velocity ave of ...2568....out of a 20” barrel with a 1:12 twist
Caution load is on the warm side ....primers are flat and just to say on some brass there is the slightest ejector mark!!!!!
Measured with a magnetospeed

H4895 makes a good M80/NATO ball load.
I’ve used 150gr Campro and Hornady bullets.
Roll crimped in the cannelure
The amount of powder depends on the case.
I use milsurp cases and use a little less powder.
Aim for about 2750fps in a 20” barrel and you’ll be pretty close to NATO ball.

I plan on doing a load for my fn...it’s stamped 7.62x51 on the barrel ....so when. Time permits “work gets in the way “ ...I’m going to try with nosler data on 7.62x51 I will post results

Good enough for the girl I go with. Got to head out with a buddy yesterday and found a nice dead-end road that parallels a gas line. After a couple shots, I had it dialed in.

Tikka T3 CTR (308 Win)
Bushnell Forge 3-18
Cheap Remington brass from bulk ammo I ran through my Garand
168 grain Sierra Match Kings
40.0 grains IMR3031
CCI 200 primers
COL of 2.810 (I haven't deviated from the Lyman manual I use)

These are the longest shots I've ever made. Took my 4 rounds to be on target at 415 yards, then only 2 rounds to be on target at 500 yards

My new play area

4 rounds on the plate at 525 yards, the 5th was just off the right edge
