I've killed over 300 big game animals with an average distance of 125 yards. Probably could of killed 95% of them with a 30-30. I think you'll be quite content with a 308 Winchester, extraordinary great cartridge. My very first rifle was a Browning BLR, chambered in the 308 Win. and killed my very first deer with it.
