Ok Good, i just dont want anyone hurting there gun or self is all.
They work better than 22 RF Blanks because there bigger in Dia is all.

The cases I made were done in my lathe with a .32 short colt case which is very similar to the .32 rf case. The rim must be thinned down to .020-.030 (too lazy to get up and get my calipers). I bored mine for .22 acorn blanks and they work in my spur trigger Red Jacket and XL4 with no issues. If I make any cases for resale though I'll make them for a .27 cal ramset blank. I'd post a pic of my RF ammo and some other oddball stuff but I've yet to get a photobucket account. Damn I hate dial-up...

Keep in mind that you must open and pour out the 27 Cal hiltis powder.
Its not easy to open up the crimp on the end of a hilti.
I think makeing the Dixie type 32 RF off set cases with a 22 Blank is a better idea IF your doing it to sell them.
Other wise some guy is gona stick in a 27 cal Purple hilti and blow up his gun and maby his hand.
Do what you like but buy a hilti cap and try and get the powder out frist ;)

If anyone can think of a SAFE easy way to empty them without risk of setting them off id like to hear it.
I been useing a sharp pick and prying open the crimp enough to pour out the powder.
A dremel cut off wheel is out cause of the heat.

well ryan, when ever you get a few made up that youed part with let me know alrighty, meanwhile I'll get a few .32 colt case's and try out dingus's way of doing it I'll load them with 10 or 15 grs of ffg and a .32 roundball seeings I have a bunch of them anyways...used to shoot a Remington 1863 pocket model, im asuming that power wise they will be pretty much them same.

something like this mini tubing cutter may work for cutting the caps?

There so short and the rim makes them sit at and Angle.
Its a decent idea tho.
Maby if a person dremeled out a slot for the rims to sit in that clamp then it might work.
Its a safe way to do it if you can get the little hilti to turn and sit flat then you got it.

I been thinking of diffrent ways along time now.
Driveing in a sharp pointed steel punch and levering the suckers open is what worked for me.
Them caps are hard to pry open even tho there just brass. I hate that part the most about makeing RF ammo.

What holds the blank in place? It can't be loose or the powder would fall out.

I've shot a rimfire tripplet & scott carbine useing Dixies reloadable rimfire cartridge's, the acorn blanks stay put just fine, I just press them in with my thumb and finish seating them with a piece of dowl.

To open the Hiltis a bit, how about a flat faced shellholder in a press, and a tapered spike mounted above. Just raise the ram to gently push the blank onto the pin to open the crimp a bit.

So I guess if I make up some with the 27 cal Hilti I just need to make the hole (holes?) so precise that it's a press fit?

I have never participated in a thread with people who have done something, that was so difficult to extract info from - no pics, vague descriptions, partial answers.....

I'm just going to figure it out myself, and then post detailed pics and descriptions for those who haven't done it yet. Maybe in doing so, I'll create a business opportunity for myself from those who can't do it on their own. ;)

well from what I've noted there is a demand for .32 rimfire rounds...wasnt there a company in Mexico that was making them a year or two ago due to demand?

Well thats the best Idea i seen yet... I can picture that working.

Andy yes the fit must be nice and close so the hiltis are pressed in.
Tho ive had a few loose ones just put a dab of supper glue (Mooncoons Trick) on the hilti as its droped in place.
You can press out the fired Hiltis with any deprimeing tool in a press.
Just look at a Dixie case the way its made that will help you figger it out.

anyone here able to post some pics on this thread for me?

I'll do it - I'll PM you my e-mail. I'm already well along in my research - should be ready for a report in 2-3 weeks.

Here's a teaser - a "Green" 22 cal Ramset will drive a 48gr 0.315" Round Ball through almost 3" of plywood at 6 feet out of my Rem #4 Rolling Block.

I find that if you just squeeze the Hilti (or Ramset) cartridge ever so slightly with a pair of needlenose pliers, so as to make them ever so little out of round, you can achieve the tight fit you need.

I guess this was a good topic to bring up, Im finding that the most available and aforable antique cartridge pistols are rimfire, so seeing's this is the case and ammos so over priced might as well hear all the different ideas as to how to reload the lil buggers, thier fun to shoot.

I use a dab of clear womens nail polish to hold my acorn blanks in place.... Although I do have to admit feeling a little uncomfortable in the cosmetics section of Walmart earlier today.....
