As did Mighty Peace, I went to Corlane's and they installed a PacNor SS barrel but in a Sporter #1 profile to keep the weight down. The doner rifle was a newer Model 70 Fwt CRF .30-06. It was about $500 for the barrel job. The barrel flutes, action lug lapping, recessed target crown, trigger job and powder coating was extra. Although it's a light barrel and fluted to boot, this .338-06 put my first handloads into an inch at 100 yards. Damn fine for a new, lightweight barrel and being a .338-06, it's got the Kool factor going for it
