Remember, you aren't shooting a .338 Lapua Magnum. You are shooting $5 bills.
Maybe if your shooting the cheap ammo.
Lapua stuff is $80+tax for 10 rounds.

That was so awesome. With an "off the rack" rifle to boot. Wonder what the "mods" to the rifle were?
There's a TRG at my LGS, hmmmmmm.......
Forget about AB... Think Beattle Kill.... Logging has cleared massive hunks of real estate through central BC and the OK valley. Forget about yards... think miles.
I took a drive last fall to see what was logged around me... couldn't recognise alot of the country I used to hunt in. Not sure if Google Earth will show the patches but it is stunning.
At these type of distances, I would just set up wireless cameras and use a TV screen to view the shooting. I think any type of optical spotter is going to be challenged to see precisely in mirage at those types of distances. I am sure with enough money, optics or better.. telescopes can be used.
2350 yds (GPS ranged) was far enough for me...

Any idea on the make/model of spotting scope she was using?
As the saying goes...throw enough lead at anything and you'll hit it eventually!

brass, time and sourcing components is free?80 cents for the bullet, 30 cents for the powder. It's cheaper than shooting blue box federal in a 30-06. People do that all the time.
Its not like you're only using your brass once, time is spent loading any caliber, and sourcing is clicking a mouse. That's still free.
I like to shoot a big .338, and find it cheaper than many of my "ordinary" hunting cartridges. The big target bullets compare favorably to premium hunting bullets in price. Depending on what and where you get them and what quantities you buy in they're practically cheap. Easier on barrels than some of my powder gobbling small bores too.

I have tried it...many times...at the government's expense. 2500m is the furthest so far.Go ahead and try that and see how it works out for you. Having some experience with extreme long range shooting I can say that you would shoot yourself broke before getting a "statistical" hit. There is so much atmosphere between the gun and the target that jist chucking bullets into the area is a fools errand.
