Zastava uses a 360 mm = 14" twist for their 9.3x62 rifles. I've got some 320gr Woodleigh RN bullets for my Ruger No.1 9.3x74R which should stabilize nicely in the 1:10 twist barrel.

Yes, and as posted earlier in this thread from personal experience, the 1:14 twist barrels handle those bullets just fine.

..... The 1:14 twist stabilizes the Woodleigh 320 and Norma 325gr RN bullets with no problem at all. The amazing thing is that the 9.3X62 drives these very heavy bullets well past 2300 fps.....

9.3 barrels with 14" twist are easy to find in Canada. Let me know if he has any problem finding one.

Woodleigh recommends a 1:12 twist for their 35 caliber 310gr bullet for optimum stability so for a 36.6 caliber 320gr the same twist rate should also be recommendable. They do however state that 1:14 is an ok minimum for the 35 caliber 310gr bullet.

Are you set on a 35? A 338 will have better bullet selection. A 9.3 will have heavier bullets available. I have a 358 Norma and I am constantly banging my head when looking at bullet selection

I have been looking for a decent .35 whelen/9.3x62, etc for a while but then a nice .375 H&h came up. So I think i scratched my .35 itch with a pointy rake.

so, i will say not very constant on my sample test.

the bullet is tumbling on short distance but that is just my test maybe others will say something else.

I would look at using 250's. You should be able to get 2600 fps out of them. With a 200 yd zero that would put you 9-10" low at 300- line of back hold.

I like controlled feed Mausers and I made up my 9.3X62 using this barrel from Tradex:

They now have this as well:

https://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/mauser-m98-barrel-zastava-93x62 It is 23 5/8" long, has an unknown (to me) twist, and is also "in the white".

My 35 Whelen is also a Mauser and has a 1:12 twist barrel.

Both work very well with light and heavy bullets using RL15, RL16, and RL17.

You can also get well past 2600 fps with the 270 gr Speer. I have used that bullet for more than 15 years. Sighted in three inches high at 100, it is about the same low at 200, and around 15 inches low at 300 meters.

Have killed moose, bear, and our big mountain caribou bulls using that load. Don't believe the nonsense about it being too soft.

This one came out of a huge bull that Doug, C-FBMI, got on a hunt when he grabbed "Old Ugly" out of my hands. That's another story we need to share with all of you some day. He has also used it to kill a one-ton plus animal with a single shot, but I'll let him post about that.

I have never seen it fail. It is accurate enough to run five pigs in a row off the 300 meter rail on our silhouette course. That's 327 yards, and it kills really big game almost as expeditiously at that range as it sweeps the pigs off the rail.
