450
I have the stainless /laminate blr in 450 marlin I had a limb saver & merc. reducer installed ,good now from bench.Just started new loads using 300-350 barnes x groups .75-2.5'' 1780--2125 fps.I've also shot 450 tsx but loose too much velocity.I also have a browning 71 in 450 alaskan haven't shot it much but recoil is harsh.working on a load for 300 partion & 400 speer.any bigger I shoot my 50alaskan in browning 78 actuly chronyed that last week with middle of the road loads & 550grain spitzers bought from bullet smith getting 2'' groups at 100 yards & 1800fps! I was quite impressed & recoil was like a 12 gauge.quite happy with the lot,I think that 450 marlin should be a good moose gun out to 200 yards I have a 2.5-8x36 leupold with that new boone & crocket reticle providing I figure it out.I figure with the 450 marlin If I can get 2000-2150 with a 300-350 barnes poited bullet should be just the ticket. robin
