I noticed that WS is now listing the 357 in the NEF line. Any one seen one yet or know of another single shot chambered in that caliber? I've had the Puma's, Marlin's & Win's, nice but I want something different. There was a rolling block 357 listed awhile back on Epps site, anything else floating around out there?

Only "gotta have" is the ability to put a scope on it. Thoughts?

Don't think anyone in Canada is carrying them, but in the US Charles Daly is importing ArmiSport Chiappa's "Little Sharps" rifles, which are available in 357 magnum. They're 20% smaller and 50% lighter than the full size Sharps rifles. Hopefully someone will start importing them, as I'd really like to take a look at one in 218 Bee.

I have an H&R on which I installed a H&R .357 Max. barrel obtained from Numrich many years ago. Shoots everything from .38 wadcutters through the .357 Max. Quite handy.

357

Ruger did make a #3 in .357, I believe it was for the California Highway Patrol commemorative or a limited number for something along those lines. Haven't seen one ever in person however.

Quick, scare the poop out of your neighbors and fire off a box! That sounds rather interesting, what sort of physical dimensions does it have?

I'd love to rip off a couple of rounds, but the CO that lives behind me might have something to say about that.

It has a 20", relatively heavy barrel and weighs about 7 lbs. Straight-grip, oil finished stock.
I just re-read your original post and saw that what you want has to be able to be scoped. I think that leaves the "Baby Carbine" off your list without a bunch of gunsmithing. Most of my rifles are scoped, but my 51 year-old eyes can still use receiver sights pretty well. I'm just waiting for a tang sight that I have ordered to arrive before I head out to try the rifle.

cheap, different .357

A friend of mine has one of the Ruger #1's in .357, and he teases me with it regularly. I think it would be neat to make one on a Baikal single-shot shotgun action. If you could get one in .410, all you do is cut the barrel off ahead of the forearm hanger, mill the inside to parallel, and sleeve a .38 barrel in. Really cheap, and really fun!

That little Roller would be a real sweet rifle for barnyard pests. I know a guy with a little Roller in 22 Hornet. I may have to borrow it off him at some point when I head South in the spring and give the sod-poodles a go.

going to bring this post back to life....a few months ago the was a rolling block in 357 mag that was sold on the board....who was the lucky fellow that grabbed it?....I would like to hear all about the rifle or for that matter any 357mag singles.

I have shot that little rolling block of Sniper58's. To say it is sweet would be a huge understatement! :)

With the tang site he now has mounted on it I would not hesitate a second to take it deer hunting. While not a lightweight the balance is damn near perfect.

I tried to steal it after shooting it but Clint was a bit too wary of leaving me alone with it for even a second! ;) LoL

I sold a Navy Arms/Uberti 357 mag baby rolling block on the EE a few months ago... is this the one you're talking about?

The rifle got a lot of interest, and I ended up selling it in a couple of hours for somewhere between $520-$550. Given the interest, I could have definitely asked for more, but in the end, I think the buyer got a fair deal and I was able to purchase a replacement Marlin 1894c with the money (and even had some change left over!) In fact, I think a month or two after I listed it, someone else posted one for $900... not sure if they sold it, but the ad was gone after a couple weeks.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about the rifle. I liked it immensely... it carried very well and was pretty to boot. I never took it to the range a whole lot, so beyond saying "it was accurate enough" with the iron sights, I can't say much more about its potential. I had pondered the idea of having it reamed out to 357 Maximum (as I'd read some others doing) to give it a bit more punch for deer hunting, but I couldn't bring myself to alter a perfectly good rifle, so decided to sell it and keep my Marlin 35 Rem as a hunting gun.

Cheers,
Stirling

Marlin 94 in 357 mag. I will never sell it. If you wanna handicap yourself with a single shot, don't load the tube. It is the first gun from my colllection that newbies wanna shoot at the range.

I think it was Navy Arms that used to make a rolling block pistol in 357. Would dearly love to find one but they seem more rare than originals and run about the same price!

I not Navy Arms, I know that Uberti makes a replica:

Never seen one in person, although I think I might have seen it listed in Goble's online catalogue.

The rolling block is one of those actions that you have to admire the simplicity and function.
