.357 magnum and the stupid guy

I still can't get over anyone keeping a loaded firearm in their home, legal or not. I don't know where he's from and their local reg's but that's an accident waiting to happen.. Unbelievable. LR

How canadian are you? What good is an unloaded gun? The middle of the night, door gets kicked in, "Excuse me, while I open my safe, load a gun, and repel you Mr Badguy." I always keep mine unloaded and put away, but only because the law requires it. If it were legal to do so, the glock would be chambered, safety on, in the nightstand, if it were legal to do so. Sure this guy may not have a silver tongue, but I don't see anything wrong with what he's doing. Even when he points at the camera, doesn't necessarily mean he's pointing at his face, like all the comments seem to assume.

would it be possible for you to take a picture of this Glock with a "safety" ?

I'd probably keep a mag separate. If it's the middle of the night and you don't have time to load a mag and rack the slide then you'll probably be too groggy to do anything against home invaders before they stomp your teeth in anyway.

But yeah, I really don't see the reason for dicking around with a loaded pistol for no reason. Takes two seconds to unload it before you make your ####-waving video.

I would have no issues with keeping some thing like a 1911 cocked and locked beside my bed if i could. I know from past experience that if I am awakened by something requiring a response with a gun. It takes less time to be fully awake then it would to get to a gun on the bedside table. Get a friend to stay over one night and in the middle of the night. Get him/her to make a loud noise out side your bedroom while you are asleep, and see how quick you are awake.

It has nothing to do with being "Canadian" or not, I don't feel the need to sleep with a loaded gun in my house for any reason. I'm a very light sleeper and I'd be up and the gun out of the cabinet before someone got to me (its about 3' from my bed). Once I hear something I'm up NOW, not groggy - at that point there's far too much adrenaline flowing. Anyone can argue the fact but there's still no reason to have a loaded gun in a house. Period. Especially if you have a family.

I can agree with keeping the mag separate but are you 100% sure no one else will be curious enough to touch it if they find it? Or if he's good enough that you don't wake up are you willing to take the risk of a burglar using YOUR loaded gun on you? Just a couple things to think about. Its not that hard to potentially inject a gaseous sleeping agent into your house before they break in (I'm a long haul trucker, its well known out here about thieves who use starter fluid to knock a person out before breaking into a truck. Just as an example). I'm 100% for home defence but there has to be a line drawn, and sleeping with a loaded pistol beside you is too far IMO.

However, when I'm camping in bear country I usually sleep with my 12 ga beside me with the mag loaded (unchambered). I just couldn't ever get over the though of rolling over onto a loaded rifle and waking up to that in my face.. I agree with things happening quickly and the more prepared you are the better, but I'm not going to go so far as to put myself or my family in danger just for the sake of being "ready".

I respect your opinion and this is merely mine, I'm not trying to start an argument. Just my .02 LR

i couldn't watch that thing all the way through- just too many violations- esp when he pointed the thing at the camera- as for the gun itself- just another gp 100 and not even in stainless- while it's a good gun, there are other "notables " out there- as to keeping a loaded gun in the house , i'd rather be carrying 6 than be carried by 6 and rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6-

I'd have no problems sleeping with a loaded gun within arms reach - but I'd keep the chamber empty to avoid me grabbing it in my sleep / grabbing it instead of the alarm clock in the morning (half asleep).

Wish we could "legally".

"Lookit... lookit the shine on this baby, aright?" haahahaha, what a bloated sac this guy is!

So, is it safe to assume some of the comments on there were left by you fine folk?

Like the "can you feed her?" asked in the background. Probably meant can you put a couple bullets in the gun and did not refer to a kid in the house.

Anyone tried one of the biometric / fingerprint safes? May be good for next to the bed.

Cheers
