This round can be chambered nicely into just about any Mod 94, Mod 1899 rifles as well as just about any single shot, such as a Martini or Rem Rolling block and many others.
It's to long to feed through a Mod 92 action.
I saw a Savage Mod 340 rebarreled to the 357 Maximum.
I have a Martini chambered for it as well as another chambered for a wildcat cartridge, the 257 Maxi, which is just a necked down 357 Max case. It needs to be done in three separate stages, can't be done in one pass.
The 357 Maxi makes for a very nice and handy rifle, quite capable of taking Deer and Bears cleanly out to 150 yds when loaded to near max pressures in barrels of 18+ inches.
The chamber in my Martini is tight and when I shoot 38 S&W, 38 spl, 357 magnum through it accuracy is not good, as mentioned above.
One thing that is nice about the cartridge is it's long enough to be able to hold enough No 7 pellets, over a cardboard wad with wax over the case mouth to take grouse out to 25 yds. I tried crimping a card over the case mouth and not much difference.
