35cal.com??

You're certainly right on that. Ball C2 is one of the best kept secrets in handloading. It gets 2300 fps with 286 gr bullets in the 9.3X57 with good case life and no loose primer pockets. More than 2600 fps with 180s in the 303 Br is a piece of cake too. :) No other powder come close with that bullet weight.

It is also what I have loaded in various 358 Win rifles for the past 25 years, 45 gr with the Speer 250 spitzer and magnum primers.

Here's a quote from Camp Cook about Re17 in his twenty inch 375 Ultra:

Heavy recoil is heavy recoil but even with the 200fps velocity gain I really couldn't tell the difference between the loads and it is nowhere near the recoil of my 300gr loads.

Now I need to score 2 - 3 lbs more of RL17 so I don't run out this lbs is almost gone.

Pretty amazing!

Just never got around to Ball C2. I had a buddy experience some erratic high pressure loads with it once so was a little shy of it. I don't like working with ball powders either - just me.

Ted which is it in your 358s - 45grs for 2250-2300 as reported on another thread - or as reported here - 47grs ???

Also I just posted my Reloder 17 / 35 Whelen 250gr preliminary chrony results here - http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=403651

I assume that is an M98 load as opposed to an M96. Have you tried it with the good old 270gr Speer?

Yes. I had Bevan King barrel up a pair of Turkish Mausers to 9.3X57 somewhere around 25 years ago. They were available all over the country dirt cheap.

The idea was to have a matched pair, and eventually rebarrel them to 9.3X62. The 57 got more than enough velocity, and not only with Ball C2, so
they never got the rechambering job.

Today, all I use in the 57 is the 270 Speer, but load it with 4064. It simply works. Kills stuff, right now.

45 gr of Ball C is what I have loaded for years. This is a perfect example of why we always need to check, and check again, anything posted (or mis-posted ) on the internet.

Have changed it.

Thanks!
