**.375 Bullet Test Results**(lots of pics!)

Thanks for doing this test, I got a 375 H&H on the way and am going to use these results when buying bullets.
Would you expand a bit on your experimental setup? I'm going to do a wet newsprint test of my own, and if the results are repeatable I could add to your test results.

I can add that the 270 TSX is a great game bullet and I have used it on dozens of head of game from duiker to crock, hippo and lion. They do a good job everytime at moderate ranges on heavy game and work well out to 300 mtrs on lighter game. I can state this from my own personal experience, and recovered bullets when available. The only surprise in the test, was the 235gn Speer.......WOW, I'm impressed!!!!

Gread job Steve and we appreciate all the work that went into this program.

I've had extremely good results with both the 270 and 300gr TSXs in .375, as well. Have used them from whitetail to cape buffalo, you've done much better.

:cool:Great work bud and your info will definitely have an influence in the bullet choices I make for my 375 H&H and 375 Chatfield Taylor. To echo what others have said, your efforts are much appreciated :).

Tremendous effort and awesome pictures, Thanks very much !
Having used a 375 for 40+ years I have to say that your effort is priceless and most appreciated by all of us...

The 235gr Speer and 270gr Hornady were a pleasant surprises when compared to bullets worth twice as much.

I was also a bit surprised about the GMX compared to the TTSX. The TTSX is supposed to expand reliably down to 1800fps and the GMX down to 2000fps. The GMX expanded all the way down its hollow point while the TTSX still had some expanding to do. It should have been the opposite.

Thanks for doing the tests great work!

I'm just wondering how you got all the newsprint to do the tests? There are some bullets I want to test but it would take me years to collect the newsprint. There has got to be a faster way...

Thank you for the all the work that went into this.
The pics are just perfect.
I would really like it if you could do this for the 243 Winchester and the 30 calibers 308 and 30-06 even some 300 magnums.
I know it is a lot to ask, but it would be very helpful to all.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year

Anyone tried those raptors on game before?

Doglegs used them a fair bit I believe, and Dogleg's fair bit is most hunters' lifetime worth. He packed them on our grizzly hunt but used his .300 Ultra due to weather considerations, with an Accubond. The Accubond did the trick as a side note.

I have absolutely no experience with the Raptor or any CEB bullets, I've only ever shot three Raptor bullets and it was during this test. The impression I got from those CEB bullets shot during this test is that they were very destructive in the first 4-6" of newspaper when the petals opened and sheared off. In fact they were probably the most destructive bullets in those 4-6" of all the bullet tested. Once the petals sheared off though, they were essentially sharp edges solids digging a long, narrow hole.

From the performance on newspaper (which is not very similar to meat and bones), I would think that they would be very effective on broadside shots when the petals would be opening into vital organs. My concern would be if your shot was a quartering towards shot in the shoulder of a heavy animal. The petals may open and shear off in the shoulder muscle and you would end up with the solid shank zipping through the vitals. Your animal would surely die but maybe not as fast or close as with a "conventional", expanded bullet through the vitals.

This is however purely theoretical. I hope Dogleg can share his experience.
