375 Chatfield/Taylor finally finished

I have the same stock in a short action,..had a friend remove the sling pockets and install studs,..you can't tell it was ever changed.
Had the stock on my 350 Rem Mag, great stock for the little big bore....
No problem with extraction, but I am gonna back it off a bit to between 2600 and 2700 fps.if I saw chrony readings like that, I'd be not worrying about my fingers. I'd be worrying about my eyeballs!
Brass will last longer and besides, I don't wanna make the "KING" look bad.

I have 5 375 cal. rifles. The Taylor is my fav. I have a Ruger 375 with the wood stock, blue finish. Nothing wrong with it, except maybe the stainless bolt which is kind of hokey, but the whole package is ordinary. I have fired about 80 rd, from the 375 Ruger, and about 400 from the Taylor. When the grandkids and I go shooting at the dump I always take the Taylor and a 10-22.
The 375 Ruger is a better cartridge, ballistics,no belt,feeding etc. I was going to build a 35/416 Rigby, and have some parts gathered up, but now I think I'll go with a 35/375 Ruger using a vz24 action. This way I'll have the short action Ruger with the slightly larger cap. case with no belt. Need to find some time and $. Mark

As far as the OAL length goes, it's about .020" off the lands with a Hornady 270gr SP. Seats to the bottom off the canalure with a compressed load.
I have two of those gloves. I can only imagine how you hand would look after wearing one of those, besides the glove goes on the left hand while the knife is in the right.You should get the metal chain butcher's glove out.

I checked the glass bedded and that's still OK. I'll watch it regardless.
I ground the checkering off the underside of the bolt handle. I'm hoping that will help at the bench with a leather fingerless glove.
I really hope I can get this stock to work. Other than the bolt handle thing the rest of the stock really does a good job of controlling recoil, esp with the Limbsaver.

With the 270 gr. W/W bullets 2850 was possible and repeatable with 4064. Nosler part. 300 shoot ok @ 2600+. The most fun are the RHINO 350's with 66 gr. 4320- 2550 with S.D of 15. It doesn't appear that you can get enough 4320 in the case to cause trouble with any bullet.
I have some 305 Beartooth cast that we hollow pointed. Great on the milk jugs.

Alliant's H&H data for 270 gr Hornady bullet is a max charge of 73.4 for 2685fps....49 500 cup.
i think backing off a bit is a wise decision, and you may find that your finger damage goes away, as the recoil on those loads might have been pretty intense.
