375 Ruger Brass

Good read fellas, While they are both beautiful, I think I would go with the African. I love the classic look of the wood and barrel ring.

It may, it may not..haven't looked...

A barrel band sling swivel is only important if you are one that holds the rifle so as to need one.

For me. it is not an issue....

I too hold the rifle far back enough not to worry about being cut by a normal sling swivel. A barrel band sling swivel just adds that extra bit of panache and style, which is why I like them.

On a 375 class rifle, having the swivel on the stock is not a problem, although they do look nicer on the bbl.

I prefer nothing on my barrels...

If the rifle had a barrel band on the barrel I would live with it though...

I didn't look too closely, but on the cover of a mag I saw (2007 buyers guide) there was a open sighted classic looking safari rifle and also something about the new Ruger 375 in print. Perhaps the too were not related. It would also be the only one I have seen so far with a barrel band. If it dosn't however it should I am gonna pick up the mag after work and get to the bottom of this, I will let y'all know what I find.

according to the picture on the Ruger website, there is no barrel band.

Oops my bad, the gun I saw was the M77 MkII in 375 Mag. Very pretty indeed, but if I am not mistaken more like the 2K range.

you're right, M77's are very similar to Mini 14s!

The only difference (other than the obvious) is that a 375 Hawkeye African is a hunter's rifle, while a Mini 30 is a fool's toy. Other than that...no difference at all.
