Gatehouse the more I look at the ballistics of the 375 Ruger the more I like it...
I had a 375 H&H for years but it just didn't do for me what I wanted.
If the 375 Ruger had come out at the same time as the 375 RUM I would have probably gone with the Ruger instead due to it's ballistics in a standard length action.
Yes I do believe that Ruger has hit upon a winner with this new catridge/rifle combo...
After a bit more thought I totally see the advantages of the 375 Ruger and may have to buy one to complement my 375 RUM...
My 375 RUM gives awesome performance but I use it more for longer range shooting situations whereas I would use a 375 Ruger for close in thick cover where shots would be max 200 yards.
What I'm saying is I can totally see the advantages of a shorter standard length bolt throw with a short 20" to 22" barrel.
I may have to buy myself another rifle/catridge combo...
Aaahhhh no way I didn't say that did I?
Don't any of you believe those quotes that GH posted and its just not right to wake up too such lies good thing I didn't even have a chance to make my coffee yet I would have spit it all over my keyboard in horror...
OK OK and now remember I'm not thinking right yet need coffee, I'll admit this much after playing around this year with my 21" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 375JDJ = 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps and my new shortened to 21" barreled 375RUM = 260gr Accubonds @ 2850fps or 300gr anything @ 2650fps and my 26" 375RUM = 260gr Accubonds @ 3020fps & 300gr @ 2800fps, I will conceed that the 375 Ruger is a very good all round package for the average guy that wants a 375 caliber but has issues with recoil.
I'll never conceed this king thing that some here push so relentlessly a good all round package yes king as my 2 1/2 year old would say "never"...![]()

Who has tried one of these .375 Ruger rifles? I am most interested in a 20" Alaskan variety.
Please tell me about any experiences you have had?
Thanks, Jeff/1911.
My 21" barreled 375RUM loads that I shared above where the first loads that I tried they are definately not even close to top loads I'm thinking I may try and push the 260's to 2900fps just to see how the recoil is but with a .473 BC the velocities are fine where they are.
Who gets 2850FPS with a 260 grain bullet from the .375 Ruger?
