375 Ruger

I shoot a 375RUM so don't have to build it up by posting dancing bananas I just let the performance of the cartridge do the talking and when it speaks I smile and others listen...

:sniper:

LOL

I don't know that people are going to start chucking around a campfire. People are going to stay with what they own. Especially since anything over say .338 is really expensive for.factory ammo, who would want to change reloading supplies? I remember Kevan being very frustrated with the poor quality Ruger/Hornady brass.

I just checked my rifle list, one rimfire and one centerfire bought new, a few others from family members bought new which I now own. Many more H&H rifles on the.used market, simply because there are many more out there. Very few new shooters buying a new rifle, one gun battery in .375... anything.

Alright, so it's been ten years and the .375 Ruger isn't the flash in the pan I predicted it would be. Gate gotta hand it to you, I still like the H&H better but the Ruger is here to stay, and even showed up on the North Coast with a Grizz client last year. I even like it a bit.

:)

No question it's here to stay. I'm sure a few more will show up in camp, too. :dancingbanana:

I recall hunting grizzly in your neck of the woods and I would have really, really loved to be packing my 20" barrel Alaskan, rather than the bigger, longer and heavier H&H that I had in my hand. :)

Personal choices are a great thing...... and it's nice that there is a very capable .375 level cartridge available to the masses at an affordble price in a cheap platform that any joe can own with "minimal investment" with a synthetic or laminate stock setup that is wallet friendly......

I packed this little 375JDJ on my last grizzly hunt.

Its a 21" factory tapered T/C Contender carbine was a 375 Win when I bought it had JD Jones of SSK Ind the designer of the cartridge rechamber it to 375JDJ for me.

I neck down 444 Marlin brass and load 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps didn't get a grizzly on that hunt but did shoot a 6' + black bear @ 90 yards with it dropped it right there when it started to move again I let it have a second shot which ended any fight in it.

:) Sounds like it's moving. That's about 100 f/sec faster than the 265gr Hornady I'm pushing out of my Marlin 444S.
Just thinking of the reference to the use of the 444 case.

Very KOOL little rifle there with BIG Power ! :) RJ

I got this stainless Ruger MK2 in 375 Ruger back the other day.
Swapped a 30-06 canoe paddle for the same in 7mag.
Found a minty Hawkeye take off stock in the exchange too. With the added bonus of some really good figure in it.
A 375 Shillen blank came also from the exchange.
Contoured the barrel to 0.69" at 23". Wolff firing and trigger spring kit.
A Varix 3 3.5-10x40 got strapped on. 8.5 lbs as pictured. Thanks to all the swappers and sellers.
Turned out really nice I think.

Thanks guys.
It likely won't see iron sights but I agree they would fit the rifle well.
The stock was free floated, pillar bedded and has a front crossbolt as well. The tang has proper relief too. Should be good. The recoil pad could use an upgrade but I like the looks of the factory Ruger red rubber.

That's a nice looking rifle.

FYI, Pachmayr sells their small and medium Decelerator pads in red. Both are 1" thick.

Do you have a pic of the tang relief?
