Got a Enfield no2 revolver recently and it came with a few boxes of 38s&w and the stuff is as hard to find as 303 Brit anyone know of a site selling a couple boxes of the stuff? The revolvers so fun and easy to shoot and I’m not setup for reloading yet any info is appreciated

I've got a 1924 Colt Police Positive Special that is chambered for .38 S&W, and yes, it is really hard to find ammo for. I sourced a couple boxes at a gun show. I don't think I've ever seen it in a retail store. Fun little cartridge to shoot though, even if you can throw a rock harder!

Honestly, if you plan to shoot any decent amount, you should think about getting set up for reloading. Years ago I had 2-3 pistols chambered in this round, and iirc, it was about $45 for a box of 50.

.38 S&W caliber is one of those calibers that teeters on the line of becoming obsolete. If you want to get use out of that handgun on a regular basis, you need to learn how to reload.

I have a 1942 Colt Police Positive in 38 S&W. I honestly believe it’s never been shot. The finish is pristine for an 80 year old gun. I might as well start shooting it if I can never sell it. Have to find dies to reload the brass.

Get into reloading as it’s the only way to guarantee a steady supply of ammunition. Also cuts your price way down. I also cast my own bullets so that also cuts the price. Under $20 per hundred at current primer prices. Prices for new factory loads around here is $55-60 plus tax for fifty.

If it shoots like my endfield you’ll love it basically no recoil, plus it makes me feel like a British gentleman

I reload it for my S&W Victory. Honestly I just use regular 38spc/357mag projectiles and it shoots great with them. No real need to hunt down the specific 38 S&W projectiles that are .002" larger in diameter. Cost wise I would not even purchase factory ammo as it is very expensive. Of course if you will never reload then that is your only choice.

Cheers

That's a beautiful gun for sure! And yes, you should shoot it a bit.
