A lot of people used to get hung up and think you had to use a 1911 style in a major caliber. If you're good with the double action trigger, I don't see why a revolver shooter should have to change.
Yes, the semi has a number of advantages. So what? Except for the El Pres drill, reloading during the BB isn't timed. What counts is your time from the buzzer to the last shot. If you can cycle the double action trigger smoothly enough to keep the sights centered on the target, and fast enough to make the time, go for it.
