Hey guys. Need advice as deer season is already passing me by. After throwing a few box s through my 25 over the past little while I have realized my cheap Bushnell scope is a complete pile. I'm kinda hurried in options and I'm looking for a Reliable, CLEAR scope in the 4 - 16 power range to stick to a TC encore in 280.
700 dollars is about all I'm good for. Unless a couple bucks gets me a lot more. Think reliable... Once bitten twice shy eh.

Cheers

Seems to be they're all touching a grand. Anywhere reasonable to order glass online? Whole sale sports is 4 hours drive away and seems overpriced. Any particular models? Vx2 ect?

I've been very happy with my vortex diamond back 3.5 -10 in my 300wm for about $350 (1/2 the $ of L.). Put a couple hundred round through it, hiked 100s of kms through brush and up and down Rocky trails, sometimes using the boomstick as an additional walking stick. Haven't had to adjust the zero ever. The optics are bright and may get you in trouble because when legal light is gone you can still see easily through it. Lifetime transferable warranty. The viper line is a touch better yet. FFP reticle in mildot or mrad, with illuminated option, are fantastic. IMO you get twice as much for half the money of the bigger name optics.

There's a zeiss and a leupold in the ee right now for what you want to spend.

Nikon Monarch 4-16. I'm running the 42mm objective version, wish I had bought the 50mm objective version.
(would have given decent brightness at 16X).

The new Minox scopes are supposed to be worth far more than their price tags... Cabela's has them, otherwise you can't go far wrong with Zeiss, Leupold, Vortex, the usuals.

What model of Bushnell were you using? Their Elite series of scopes are very good 'bang for the buck' scopes in my experience.

The original scope you bought is likely under warranty and may be fixed or replaced, then you could likely use it on a rimfire or a lighter recoiling centrefire without much issue.

"...as deer season is already passing me by..." 16X or any scope with that much magnification is way too much for deer hunting. 8x is enough. I'd be thinking Burris myself.
"...Burned By Bushnell..." They used to have far better QC. Bausch and Lomb buggered it up long ago.

Just my 2cents, but I have had a Weaver V16 4-16 x 40 on my 7mm08 for about 15 years. And it's served me very well!
And they run at about the $450 - $500 range.

I know they aren't as fancy as the Leupolds and others, but seem to work great.

Good luck with the rest of your deer season.

If you're in Cabela's looking at Minox or Zeiss you should take a look at the comparable model in their own new Euro line. Very good. I like it better than the Minox for exit pupil/field of view and reticle and optically it is the equal of the Zeiss, IMO.
