Ed, that rifle IS different than the guys are describing. It has a barrel stamped .303 yet it is chambered in .308. If you look under the rear handguard, on the knoxform it has British proofmarks for .303 and acceptance stamps yet is chambered for .308. I was never able to find out anything official about it when I owned it and if it was done by anyone other than an armourer, it was sure done very professionally. It also has the milling done in the reciever to accept the .308 mag.
