#4 in 7.62 With Bayonet lugs?

The Longbranch DCRA 7.62 barrels were made and profiled on the same equipment that made the 303 barrels. They were ALL made with bayo lugs, but it was stand practice of Longbranch to cut them off on the 308 barrels when fitting DCRA rifles. later supplies of the barrels sometimes arrived with lugs still there.

Also, some modern barrels are made for the Lee Enfield and profiled with bayonet lugs. I made a pseudo-sniper using an old 308 target barrel. The last few inches of the barrel were turned down, leaving a bayo lug so the rifle would look authentic. It is chambered in 308 British.

It is the top rifle in this picture. The bottom is a standard 303 brit rifle. Both have lugs.

C.A.L. made the barrels for the british conversion to 7.62 with the bayonet lugs the brits converted quite a few for the army and police .it is my understanding that the barrels were over produced and the extras sold off as surplus ...when i worked at canam in friutland on we had quite a few never on a rifle and quite a few unfinished in the white which the owner bought as surplus in the 70's from the CAL auction 1973 iirc.

Ed, that rifle IS different than the guys are describing. It has a barrel stamped .303 yet it is chambered in .308. If you look under the rear handguard, on the knoxform it has British proofmarks for .303 and acceptance stamps yet is chambered for .308. I was never able to find out anything official about it when I owned it and if it was done by anyone other than an armourer, it was sure done very professionally. It also has the milling done in the reciever to accept the .308 mag.
