4 moose shot

They are a different entity man. Like a country in a country. That's like saying quebec language laws should apply to all canadians. Or that they shouodn't be allowed to have them. (Might be a popular idea but not realistic or respectful of our history and culture).

you are like out to lunch man. They were trespassing and should have been charged.

everyone wants equal rights until something has to be taken away to make it equal. We are headed down a troubled road on many fronts......

In BC with out treadys it is vary likely all wild life management will dun by FN
One day many in BC may be asking the local FN bans for permission to hunt on there privet land then who will be the pouches
Better start working with FN and not against us or one day it's going to bite you in the ass is better to get along with your Neighbors

So you are saying if we work with you, then maybe someday we can all pile into our trucks any time of year we like and wipe out full families of dwindling species on anyone's land we want to without fear of punishment?......

No thanks, count me out......

Considering there are no treaties, the chances of that happening are actually less likely as you have no precedent to bring forth.

There are plenty of treaties...... just no treadys......

And obviously, the FN can't manage their way out of a paper bag, which is evident in the state of the reserves and the corrupt band members and chiefs..... as well as an overall lack of a quality educational system.....

I have to admit that I have never been to Haida Gwaii, and hear nothing but good things..... but from my experiences in the north and with the native reserves around home..... maybe carverk would benefit from gaining some knowledge of other fn reserves.... if anything, maybe Haida Gwai is well managed and could serve as a model for other fn reserves.....

Yes, it appears that it wouldn't last very long.
Within a decade, you would be able to see moose only in the ZOO or super expensive hunting ranches.

If hunting regulations continue NOT to apply to all Canadians equally, extinction of moose is a certainty!

the courts have ruled that natives have a right to hunt and fish for whatever as part of their culture blah blah.
Their culture did not have guns, large 4 wheel drive trucks, ATV, nets, boats with motors and on and on.
If you want to organise a drive to drive moose over cliffs or whatever, knock yourself out.
Otherwise you have no more rights than me or anybody else.

The FN don't care about our courts....... the fact remains that the moose population is dwindling and both sides need to do something about it....... Calf and cow harvest on our part is irresponsible....full open season anywhere anytime on the FN part is even more so..........

Exactly Brad, as I said as well. What's the deal with Carverk? Not asking you specifically but I am starting to wonder about what time of day makes for a comprehensible post.

The problem with that is simply that money corrupts. One day you have a commercial fisherman or trapper, the next day you have the same person as chief managing millions of dollars. You'd get the same result by anyone of different ethnicity, just look at the corruption in our own government. One problem I see is that not enough first nations are speaking out against this corruption perpetrated by their own. The opportunities and funding are sufficient, the distribution is not.

at what point do you believe that all private land that people bought and paid for in the province will be handed over to FN? because there is plenty of private and public land currently not owned by FN in BC that does not require FN permission to hunt on

No but the crown will have to surrender Unoccupied Land and pay compensation this is the pice of no tready

With out a tready there is a question of who legally owns all the crown land in BC and FN have a vary strong legal case

This is true, if you apply to purchase Crown land in BC, approval of the sale must be granted by First Nations to complete the deal. So as it stands now you could say ALL Crown Land is owned by the FN people.
