Not a good idea. Why would you risk damaging the rifling on your 45-70. I have a marlin 45-70 and a marlin .410 and have been told that I can shoot 45 long colt out of the .410

But can you shoot 45 LC or 44 through a 410 bore?
I have fired 2.5" .410 shells out of my Marlin 1895 GS. I loaded the shells through the breach and the extractors pulled them out after they were fired.
Haven't shot any grouse with it yet but would try to keep the shots under 10 yards.
