416 Rigby project ( more pics page 2)

Here's a few pics of my 416 Rigby .
The action is a much modified Enfeild P-17 , machining by Bevan King.
I straightened the Bottom metal & contoured the trigger bow.
I added a second recoil lug to the BBL ahead of the chamber.
Magazine holds 3 rounds .
Bolt stop , bolt shroud & grip cap are color case hardened, by Corlane sporting Goods.
The barrel is 1 of 3 , drilled & cut rifled by P.O. Ackley in 1973 , contoured & chambered by Bevan .

The stock is my own design , made from a piece of California Claro Walnut with an ebony fore end tip & Pachmar Pad.
Don Robinson copied my pattern to my blank.
Checkering ( 18 LPI ) & finish by Lew Bates.Lew also bedded a hidden cross bolt behind the mag well.
I fitted a Dakota Skeleton Grip cap & rear sling mount (Ken Howell style) , & a cross bolt behind the action recoil lug.
Dakota Firearms also custom made the barrel band sling mount to my specs.
Scope is a Leupold 1.75-5 in Warn QD rings & steel bases.
I am thrilled with the results , the action is smooth & the rifle has proved to be very accurate.
I have been poking away at this for almost 20 years...so happy to finally finish it !

I like the stock design. It keeps the essence of the express rifle pattern with the pancake cheek-piece and stock slimming at the hold points, while having less drop at comb to make it more scope friendly, and slightly straighter over-all. At least that's how it looks from here. I like the open grip.
