Hi guy, I just bought a new 629 5 inch and wating for my gift in the mail. I bought a box of campro 240gr. What are your recommandations for powder? Post full receipe in the same time.

i use three different loads for my 44mag. all are using the campro 240gr bullet.

23.0gr h110
9.0gr n320
5.2gr n320 (mouse fart load)

With the campros I use 23 gr of imr 4227, slightly compressed load have gotten up to 24gr but 23gr works great in my gun

Just to toss this out here...does anyone have a 44 mag load specifically for a rifle???

Any of the larger quantities of slower powders like h110 will work well in a rifle. I operate a research ballistic testing lab and I use h110 and .44 mag for a lot of IIIa soft armour testing and you can crank them up pretty high with a 14" barrel.

My Blackhawk 44 load is a bit more H110 than posted here. My Ranchhand in 45Colt w/12" barrel and 250 Campro gets 1 more grain of H110 than the Blackhawk.

I’d shoot unique with the campros. No need to go full house all of the time. With full snot h110 loads, I prefer xtps in both revolver and rifle. When you’re finished the campros, look up hard cast bullets for plinking.

25 GRAINS IMR 4227 240 Grain Sierra 240 grain hollow point or Hornady 240 grain hollow point . Out of a Ruger 44 auto carbine shot a couple of dozen whitetails and black bear with that load all the critters dropped on the spot. Never used a Campro other then paper 25 grains 4227 may be to hot with that washed bullet ?

Skip all the heavy bullets. They are only one time use. Unless you are knocking down pepper poppers, or plates, heavy 44 bullets are a waste. Punching paper with heavy bullets is overkill.
There are many lighter bullets that do the same job, like 200, 210, & 215 trainers. Plus one can accelerate these bullets to magnum velocities....for what again?
Our stupid socialist utopia Liberal masters have prohibited handguns for hunting where heavy 44 bullets reign...

23.5gr Winchester 296 with 240gr campro and Winchester Large Pistol primers. Overkill on paper, fun on falling plates at 50m and 100m. Something about the fireball when i shoot these in my 5 1/2" magnaported Ruger Redhawk that never fails to make me grin...
