44 magnum recepe.

I kept my S&W's, but switched to Dan Wesson and Contenders for my 44 mag silhouette shooting. Do own a couple of Rugers, in 44, but not as accurate as the DW or contender. - dan
Had a DW Stainless vent heavy in the early 80’s
Very good heavy 44 mag revolver then went to SW 29 used those in Alaska until the early 2000’s then went to a Ruger Redhawk 4.2” until 2012 and the Glock 20. I added a Glock 21 setup for 45 Super a few years ago to carry in bear country. I still have my Ruger and G20 in Alaska and carry them occasionally.

I have a little over 200 Missouri Bullet Co 230gr SWG cast bullets that I don't use. I also have 3/4lb of Blue Dot powder I was given that I have no use for. The other day during a miserable weather day, I opened up the Cast Bullet Handbook and looked for a load that might help me use up both these supplies. Went to the range today, and, long story short, not sure if it's the powder or the bullet but the load I chose sucked :p

MBC 230gr SWC Cast Bullet
Alliant Blue Dot 17.0gr (Manual says 14.4-18.2gr)
CCI Large Pistol Primer

At 50 yards using a Citadel Levtac lever action, I couldn't get the group to stay on a 9x11" paper. The 10 shot chronograph average was 1637 fps. Seems a little hot based on no gas check and just lubed, I wasn't seeing any pressure signs, but perhaps I was pushing them a little fast and thus the poor accuracy. So, I'm still hunting for a way to use up these supplies
