45/70 Guide gun

shot a 45-70 for the first time this evening. I was using factory remington 405grn. The recoil was very mild (kinda boring actually). Much less than a 12 gauge IMHO. Not what I expected.
 
If you find the recoil a bit much on the bench, put a good quality recoil pad over the factory one, it makes it pleasant, even with heavy loads and just take it off for hunting, when you won't notice the recoil.
 
Remington 405 grain factory ammunition shoots extremely accurately from my stainless steel Guide Guide Gun. It is mild but will get the job done on most game.
