45-70, what's it good for?

I have used mine from deer to moose and chickens. Moose/chicks is usually a take down guide gun.
deer have been with a marlin cowboy and cast bullets. I have used this also for moose but they were in hiding at the time. Also a nef that I just picked up that has not been used for anything at this time.

My 45-70's (Marlin 1895 and Navy Arms Rolling block) gave me the 2 most memorable shots on game I've had so far.

The Marlin with a 300gr HP on a Whitetail in a snowstorm in the woods.

The Rolling block with a 405gr cast loaded with black on a mule deer on the prairie on a very cold and bitter day.

No scopes, 1 shot each, no chasing and no tracking after the fact.

my uncle/hunting buddy and I were sitting around having a few talking about the 45/70 and his wife set him up perfectly, she asked "what would you hunt with a bullet that big?" his response?

"Anything I want."
