45 acp enfields

for firing the 1st time, an unfinished rifle off hand, with military sights, yah its decent

what do most custom target rifles have besides the barrel? a good scope, stock, bipod, and trigger. this rifle has none of those things and wasnt fired taking 5 mins for every shot, just rapid succession

so yah its decent minus the flyers

How is that being an ass? If I were investing a significant chunk of change in a custom project I would expect it to shoot straight when all was said and done. I'm genuinely puzzled by his claim of "decent" accuracy when, I think most of us can agree, 8" at 50 yards from a rifle really isn't. A good handgun could accomplish that with a 5" barrel. These DeLisle-type clones genuinely interest me but not if the typical accuracy is as shown.

And since you brought it up, I apologized for ragging on people's new toy posts. Last I checked I'm still allowed to render an opinion that differs from yours, but next time I'll make sure to obtain your permission before posting.

All right, I concede to missing those aspects and withdraw my statement. Looking forward to better results!

Darn I forgot to ask before posting this, please forgive me!! ;)

I have lee enfield sporters in the following calibers, .222R, 7.62X25T, 7.62X39, 7.62X51, 410 shotgun, 45colt. All are single shots except the 7.62X51 which is a 10 shot repeater. All were bubbaed before I got them. In one of the posts someone was talking about 5 round mags, I have found them to prone to poor feeding but I use them as a mag filler for my single shots. I used lee enfield barrels for my 7.62X25T and 7.62X39 rifles and get 2 to 3 inch groups at 50 meters with cast bullets.

That's a good selection of calibers. Along with my .45 ACP LE, I'm doing up another in .32-40 Winchester as a Target/Plinker.
Mine are reworked "bubba" rifles as well, but for around $200.oo or less, a guy can get a decent base on which to do a build.

I would still like to do up a couple of more in calibers such as .25-35 Winchester & .375 Winchester for giggles.:)

Just changed my .45acp Lee Enfield's dress:

Salvaged the broken buttstock from a .303 sporter; it was way too thin to resist the .303 recoil, but with the .45acp I don't need to worry about that :)

The scope is not really a fantastic choice but it does have a rangefinder reticle which allows me to compensate for bullet drop when I shoot at 200 yards! :D

Love your new stock, Lou. That's very pretty wood. :)

Still gotta get out and do some "product improvement" on mine. It still sprinkles slugs around like beads at Mardi Gras.

I checked the fit of the forestock - there's definite contact in the channel. I assume this is mandatory, but can one free-float a stubby lil' barrel like this and get good results?

Indeed, Dan, I'd free float the barrel (except for the knox) - I don't know if the wood "seasoned" itself a bit over the past year, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't touching the barrel when I worked on it. I'd try that first for sure.

Thanks, mate. I'll get her apart, determine where contact is being made, and sand gently. She has to be more capable that she's been. All the parts are there. And while I'm no Ad Topperwein, I'm not that bad of a shot...

got er scoped, cheap tasco 3-9x, but on a solid S&K mount. shooting off a bag.

hard cast DRG SWC bullets, I will have to check on weight but it was either 175 or 200gr

I liked the 25 m result quite a bit:

Things opened up at about 90 m:

I purchased uninletted ,carved blaster and feather weight from boyds from the wood blank section at 52us each .In my hands after tax and shipping worked out to 94 cdn each .I sketched what it should look like and cut them down and finished carving to fit the receiver .I made 1 set for a martini ,one left hand set for a #4 LE for a friend to finish up his 240HH he built .The one on the 45LE I only made a butt as the inletting for the fore end was a lot of work I found on the last one .
Cheers Peter

That is gorgeous. I'd love one of these in the collection.
