VERY Nice looking rifle Shell Shucker. I have a 9mm N0 1MkIII in the works that was built by a very old gunsmith now deceased quite a few years. It was intended to be a Delisle replica. It isn't finished with dummy silencer and sights but is functional and fires and functions fine. One of these days it is going to get finished and then some pics will be posted. I'll either finish it as close as possible to a Delisle or a full wood No1 MkIII much shortened if I can get my hands on a set of sights and nose cap sometime at a gun show. It uses a standard Tokarev 9MM mag. All I did was adapt the mag well and mag catch, all the hard work with bolt, barrel, extracter etc was already done for me. He had originally had it functioning with Browning highpower mags but they looked terribly wrong so I went with the single stack Tokarev mags. I'll lay it out and snap a few pics of it and post it sometime. If anyone needs an FRT# for a 9mm lee Enfield, I have it! GRIN

Shell Shucker, can you post a close up of the front sight please? The rifle looks great.
Baal;
The front sight is a Smith Foundry Garand National Match unit and
the raised dovetail sight base came off of an old Shultz & Larsen
target rifle. I drilled & tapped the sight base down through the dovetail
for an Allen set screw to make it easy to align the front sight to the rear.
I then coated the inside of the sight band with blue Locktite before sliding
it back on the barrel and tightening the set screw to finish.

goldidig;
Thanks for the compliment. I like the idea of the 9mm No.1 MkIII and it
would be really neat to finish it up as a short carbine with original nose
cap and sights, rather than as a Delisle replica. Shorty full woods are
sweet rifles. Looking forward to seeing this project when your done.
Cheers!

May I ask where you purchased/found that front-sight (protector) assembly ?...:redface:

Removing the Enfield Barrel (from specialinterestarms . com):

How do I get my old barrel off? It's REALLY stuck!

Seven out of ten Enfield barrels are extremely hard to remove, we find that the easiest way to get them off the action is as follows. If you do not have a lathe, a local machine shop or gunsmith can handle this for you at a nominal cost.

A. Strip the action of the stock, rear sight, and all small parts which might come loose while the action is spinning in a lathe.
B. Strip the bolt assembly, you will need a firing pin removal tool.
C. Insert the bolt body into the barreled action.
D. Mount the barreled action in a lathe with a "swing" of 9" or larger.
E. At the receiver end place the firing pin hole in the bolt body on a live center mounted in the tail stock.
F. Chuck the barrel in a self centering three jaw chuck.
G. At very low speed turn-off the barrel shoulder (Chamber area just in front of the receiver) to 1" diameter using a thin blade parting tool. Wear safety glasses!
H. This will relieve pressure on the barrel shoulder and threads, the barrel should now unscrew easily.

Since the barrel shoulder has been machined back the barrel is now scrap, and will never be usable in .303 again.

well thats all good except the last part ;)

Make up a non resricted Delisle Carbine kit and Ill take one probably 2or 3.It would of course be a look alike only.Dave.

+1
That would be incredible. There is a person in the USA that was making something similar. I would love to have a Deslisle Carbine.

Has anyone tried handloading some warmer ammo for these? I was thinking that this action could take higher pressures than standard .45ACP without flinching.
