45 acp??? projectiles

hey there i am having some confusion with reloading my for my 45 can i use .452 or does it have to be .451?????

Both will work. Pressures may run a tad higher with .452. Watch closely.

A generalization, would be, that 451 is the diameter of jacketted projectiles, and 452 would be cast lead projectiles. However there are exceptions, and you're likely to be fine either way.

Good point, but I have seen it with the faster powders (which I don't tend to use anyhow.)

so if i dont want to blow my kimber up, its a safe bet just to stick with 451?

If your Kimber blows up, it won't be because you used .452 diameter bullets.

You aren't going to blow up any .45 ACP gun with .452" bullets if you follow safe reloading practices. Even a hard cast lead bullet can easily squeeze down to fit the bore.

A safer bet, would be to just send it to me for safekeeping


You'll do way more damage with improper amounts of powder, than you'll ever do with bullets .001" too big. .452" would be fine. Just don't use any 454" as they would be for the old school 45 colt's. They'd also likely be heavier than you'd want to use in 45acp.
