.45 Auto reloading data confusion...

So I made some dummy rounds to 1.26 and they feed fine in the gun but will not eject... In order for them to eject properly I had to make them 1.225.

Thats 0.035" more than the recomended minimum OAL.

I am loading for an older Colt Combat Commander.

Was this attempt to extract / eject the dummy round made with the magazine removed, as would normally be the case ?

This is probably splitting hairs but if you're going to make a trade off in order to effect a "loaded round" ejection, be sure it is necessary,,, IMHO.

I was ejecting them with the mag in..

I read some where that you should make sure you can eject the bullets easily. I guess I am mistaken?

I'd posit that being able to eject a loaded round with the magazine inserted is VERY important! (think stoppage drill)

I wouldn't say that, no. It depends upon what works and your hands on experience will uncover that. If there is a trade off between primary functioning and your ability to eject a loaded round, I'd be inclined to favor primary functioning. That will trump easy clearing in a match every time. It may well be that there is no trade off at all. Do what works :).
 
I have followed Lee data for a number of cartridges for a number of years now. The only problem I've had with Lee data and the dippers is that the odd time, the weight of the powder charge in the dipper is less than what the chart says it should be. This has happened a couple of times while reloading 9mm. The rounds then would not cycle the action. A pain, yes, but that has been the only hiccup that I can recall from using Lee data.

Recently, I have been using data from Loaddata as well, and with good results. Lee data shows up there all the time.

Check out "AmmoGuide Interactive". The format takes a little getting used to but its a much more informative site than Loaddata IMHO and cheaper too. Also Ammoguide's range of services is expanding constantly. If you google em and enter their site, you'll pick up their cookie and be offered a trial period in due course. Beyond their own infrequent solicitations, I've never encountered any spam as a result of using their site.

I went to the sheet that came with the Lee auto disk measure and it said with unique to use the .66 disk to get 6.0gr. When I weighed the powder i only had 5.5gr so I weighed out 5 more loads and they were all 5.5 +/- .1. I ended up having to use the .71 disk (recommended for 6.5gr) to get 6.0gr +/- .1.

I loaded with Hogdon Tite Group for my 9mm and the recommended dish was right on the money...

Has anyone else had an issue with the data lee provides with the auto disk?
 
its not the disk, its unique. That powder does not measure out well at all!

I have a pro auto-disk and the data for WW231 is a ways off. I just found the charge I wanted and made notes on which chamber to use for what charge weight I wanted.

I have never had a lee dipper fit it's chart's grain load to chart powder load to it's revolving load chart. I have allways had to grind or cut some off the cup,and sometimes
use a drill bit to deepin the cup tp get the right throw.

When I get the right throw i keep it with the dies for that round.
