Does anyone load for the .450 Marlin? Recently picked up a nice 1895M, and looking for some load suggestions. Just picked up some 400gr Speer bullets.

Where the heck did you find speer 400grs???

Anyway, I've been plinking with a light load of imr 4198/cast bullets, my hunting load is 50gr imr 3031 with a 400gr jacketed lead. Max load according to the lyman 49th is 52gr, mine shoots well with 50gr and it's not a compressed load.
I'd have to check my records to see what I load with the hornady 350gr's, but it's out of the hornady manual a couple gr less than max again with 3031.
I never did find a good load with mine for the 300gr leads, and never had the opportunity to try the noslers.

I tried a couple different powders, but it shoots well with 3031/4198, and those are powders some of our other guns like, too, so I just stick with them.

been loading for mine for 5 years now.

a 350gr Hornady FN over RL7 for 2100fps seems to be the winner, lays everything I've hit with it out flat, and is just over 1moa when the rifle is scoped.

Thanks Amphibious. I will try and pick up some 350gr Hornady bullets. That's pretty impressive velocity from a 18.5" barrel.

22" pipe. factory hornady load is 2150fps with a 350. I've never wanted or needed anything more. this rifle is my primary guide rifle and a great hunter.
