What is the Canadian price on the taurus, if you don't mind?
E.T.A. how effective is the port system, looks pretty good on youtube
I think it was around $600 or so. It was a while ago so I can't remember. Probably a bit more with the lower Can $ now.
The porting is kewl when the range is a little dark, but other than that, you don't really need it for the 45. I think it was just a marketing thing they added at the factory. It makes it loud, though. Sounds almost like a .357Mag instead of a 45 ACP. Personally, I prefer satin over polished, so eye-candy wise, I don't reget not spending more on a S&W. The vented rib is kinda kewl looking.
A lot of people will say Taurus is junk, but so far no problems at all with both my Taurus wheel guns (the other is a 970-22LR). And yes, I do own a S&W but it was an almost NIB sitting in a vault for 20 years inheritance a buddy traded me. Nice guns but too much $ for new ones considering my Rugers and Taurus' shoot almost as nice for a lot less money.
Only 2 complaints with the Taurus Trackers...
1) the moon clips are a pain so I just don't bother using them. That means I have to have a pencil or screwdriver on the bench to push out the empties. But that's the same for all the 45 wheel guns. That or wait until I can afford to buy some Starline Auto-Rim brass.
2) those squishy "Ribber" grips s*ck big time. But some people like them. Two of my buddies actually like the things. I can't wait to try a solid rubber Hogue on them. Or if I can find wood ones, it would be even better.
