5.45x39

Id want some if we were allowed to own AK-74's or atleast something chambered in it. Hell, even a bolt action in 5.45x39 would be nice! How about an SKS in that chambering? Id be all over that.

I'm pretty sure the only rifle we could get in this caliber is the S&W AR. If I could get a steady supply of this round I'd consider getting a S&W AR but I don't think it's going to happen.

what brand or surplus are you thinking of bringing in? Would it be a constant supply or a one time bulk purchase that once it's gone it's gone?
I think we need more details to make a better choice.
Thanks

Well for a minute there you had my hopes up for a new AR chambered in that caliber...but I don't think 15 boxes would cut it.
I'm sure someone in Canada has to have something chambered in that caliber that is just dying to get rounds for it.
Wish I could be more help by giving you my money for your Hornady rounds but I just can't.
If ever you get a really good line on some Surplus stuff for cheap than I'll be in on that!!
Thanks

Maybe if CSA made a 5.45 VZ, or Ruger made a Mini 5.45, or if CZ or Tikka made a 5.45 varmint rifle, then maybe, but unfortunately, no.

Its a shame, because I would be curious at how 5.45 would perform for coyotes and other farm pests...

If you were getting a supply of 1080 round cans of surplus, then I think there would be more intrest and more of a reason to possibly rebarrel a rifle like an sks.

5.45x39 Hornady

Are you getting 15 boxes. or 15 cases, how many rounds to a box ? and what will you price them at? I have a B/A varmint rifle in this caliber,it shoots almost as good as a 788, in .222, it's a great walk about rifle. regards Bully

+1

i'm personaly very interested in that calliber, and specifically russian surplus for bang for the buck reasons. wish there were some ARs in that caliber for sale in Canada as well

If the ammo was available in bulk for cheap (around 7.62x39 prices), I'd definitely consider buying another SKS and having it re-barreled into 5.45.

I wouldn't consider it unless ammo is cheap and plentiful though.
