5 inch Barrel 45ACP suggestions?

If you are losing links and slide stops without high volumes in-between then your issue lies elsewhere. I am shooting 1911s in 9mm, 10mm, .45ACP and .460 Rowland. The only time I had stuff break was when I was pushing things way too hard.

I had a nice Sig P220 in 45acp, real nice pistol, But it sat in the safe , while I shot my 1911 ,
BTW a Norc built by Roger Kotanko, RIP.

I have a brass catcher I used it when shooting at the old place in the grass, it worked fine, sort of a bag in the hand, have not used since I moved 10 yrs ago.

Kimber made a nice gun, I had no trouble with them, but some seem to bad mouth them.
Fellow I know bought a Rem, and it seems like a nice gun, trigger was exc, and price was very good when they first came out.( 1911 45.)

RIA are made by armscorp in the Philippines, SAM is a different company.
Armscorp is the largest 1911 maker there.
I have three SAMs. They were good guns for the money a few years ago but their prices have gone up a lot. Be aware that while they are supposedly 1911 identical clones they sometimes have problems with out of spec machining. A high qualtiy US made mag release would not properly fit in my SAM 9mm stainless Commander because of this. The ejector in my SAM 45 stainless Commander was improperly adjusted. i also bought two SAM Thunderbolts as they were supposed to be their high end target 45's. Both were pieces of poorly finished, ill-fitting crap. i returned both of them to Wolverine for refunds. Better stuff out there for the money.

Lots of good suggestions on the thread here already.

And suitable pistols popping up on the EE all the time.

Just a matter of making the choice. Let us know what you go with.
