.57 snider, .577 snider

Show me a label from another manufacturer of 57 Snider hs ammo that says "cadet". There were no other known manufacturers that used the 57 Snider hs. The OP said the ctg was marked 57 Snider.

How much is a full box like this worth?

And where can I get bullets?
I cannot begin casting until the spring, but I have brass and dies.

A box like that is worth far more as a collector item than it would be for shooting ammunition. Not sure of exact value, however ....

Not sure what sources there may be for ready-cast bullets for the Snider in Canada. You may have to find someone who already shoots the Snider and see if you can get some bullets from them. The general consensus is that bullets in the .585" or .590" range work best, with no need for a hollow base. Hollow-base Minie bullets as used in muzzle loading rifle muskets "will go bang" but with poor accuracy, likely, because they will be significantly under bore diameter (i.e. likely .575" or less) and the skirt can't flare properly when confined in a case mouth. Many people report excellent results using round ball of .600 size or thereabouts, especially in the slow twist 3-band rifles.

its 3 groove rifle that have the slow twist about 1 in 78" or so

Gentlemen,
Bullets for the Snider Rifles (2-3band ) can be had from R&R Bullets in Maitland Ontario. He has a bullet of .588" diameter, one grease groove, solid base and .900" long. I think it is ideal for accuracy especially the for the 3 band 1-78 twist. If you need a larger dia then you might paper patch it. The gentlemans name is Rick Pearson and if you Google R&R bullets, there is a catalogue which can be downloaded. Cheers

LocknLoad.
