590A1 14in retrograde build

Haven't seen a 590 with a straight front site. Ever. I quite literally have never seen one set at 90°.

I've had more luck with Mossberg than Remington. I looked through a half dozen 870P with rifle sights and gave up :(. All my Mossbergs have been fine, but thats just luck as I heard Mossberg makes Remingtons 870 barrels

I PMed you about the stock harnesses, I'm not sure if it worked though.

These are a few shots of the prototype harness. Your examples will be folded and sewn instead of burned edges to reduce the chance of scratching.

This is .047" (1.12mm) Mil-spec nylon webbing. The thread is the heaviest Heavy duty Nylon thread I can readily get. All structural joints are cross-boxed.

I would use it on a oiled or tuff finish. I don't think the nylon will scratch but if fine dirt were to get under the harness you can bet that it will scratch.

Matching black velcro will be standard (I used recycled velcro on my prototype that happen to be green).

The sewing machine has been "tuned" for this material so the stitching will be cleaner.

Great to see some makers going at all. One of the best examples is the VTAC adapter, but their loop is still located on the heel. Great looking proto - keep up the good work.

Update * could be up to 4 months for new inventory. I contacted North Sylva ( importer) and the first batch of guns that came in were already distributed with a minimum 90 day wait for the next batch... looks like mossberg is trying to pump there guns out as fast as possible and as such is missing basic QAQC like a canted sight ... when I get a new one I'll post it with the stock and everything installed ...

Why not have a Smith re-sent the sight and re-blue the barrel. Will cost. But at least you would not wait so long.

I am in no rush, to remove the sight and reattach is around $200 and the barrel is parkerized so thats another $75-$100. Then I need to pay for shipping both ways so another $25 both ways. Now I'm at $350 out my own pocket for something that is warranted. I'd rather wait :)

I feel you, but flowing the silver solder and shifting the sight a few degrees should be like $50, not $200+. The real cost would be re-bluing or re-parkerizing it.

Is the stock actually walnut? Photos make it look like some kind of non transparent paint or coating.

Well I got a actual quote and to do the barrel would be $150. ( $75 for the job and $75 labor) then I have to get it sent to another guy who charges $120 for a barrel complete parkerized. So $270 before shipping fees even which would be 3 times because it has to go to the Smith, then the Smith sends it to the parkerized guy who sends it back to me. Do atleast $20 a trip another $60 making it $335

Yes, it is a retrograde set. They are walnut. I'm still waiting on a new gun.... I think I'll jump on the first I see in stock anywhere I can visually inspect it... I'm not buying online again.

That looks good. Did you have to shorten the forend?

Some decent looking wood under there. Most photos I see of the retrograde the wood finish looks awful.
