6.5 creedmoor bullets, who is shooting what

I also love the Berger 140 Hybrid the best, in both my Creedmoors. One is a 5 groove, the other a 3 groove.
Have tried eldm, eldx, RDFs, and the Bergers just seemed easier to find nodes for.
Both my barrels really like the 123 Scenar too, and very accurate, but at long distance they do noticeably poorer.

139 Scenars, 42.3 gr H4350. AI AX 26" AINA 8 twist Bartlein barrel. Average velocity 2840 fps, Magnetospeed V3. I tried the Bergers and shot no better than the 139's in my rifle anyway at various distances. Also they are harder to find, more expensive and I am not good enough to exploit any advantages if there are any. I have some 140 RDF's to try as well but sticking to the 139's.

147 eld-m, 47.4 gr rl26, COAL 2.880

2850 fps, 24" RPR. Some room to go faster too.

will shoot dimes. rl26 is really slow so throat erosion should be minimal compared to h4350.

will probably go for a 26" tube with a longer throat so I can load ~2.94 COAL next

My buddy shoots the 136 Gr. Screnars in his 6.5 Creedmoor with IMR 4451 and his gun is fantastic. Enough that I bought a couple of boxes of 167 Scenars for my 308!

Don't be afraid to try bullets and do some load workup, and for powder give X-reload a call they always seem to have everything in stock.

That'll be the 139 Scenar's for me bud ;) IMR 4451 pushing speeds of a consistent 2790 ft/s and they have performed very reliably out to 1300 yards in competition. I will try them out this summer at distance and hopefully crack 1500 yards when I have the time to be a belly shooter ;)

Where did you find RL26?

Slower, yes. But it burns hotter, and it's flame temperature that eats away at the throat.
Why hotter?,, single base vs double based propellant.
Hotter accelerates erosion,, therefore it should wear your barrel out faster than H4350, especially if you load to max, and run the barrel hot.
The double base powders excel at getting higher velocities,, but at the expense of a higher flame temp.
Keep the barrel cool or warm, and you probably won't notice any difference though.

There are several accounts of longer barrel life with slower powder and 6.5 creedmoor across the various reloading forums.

I'm running Berger 130gr Hybrids on top of 43.0gr of H4350. Haven't chrono'd it yet but just on load development it shot a 0.283" group

I'm running 152 Matrix and 147 ELD Match with a 26" barrel. The 147's are running at 2825 and the 152's at 2760. Both bullets are giving stellar accuracy out to a mile (hope to test further soon). If I was using this gun in Competition I would definitely use the 152 Matrix as the consistency is top notch.

my 6.5's (260 and x47) 8 twist shoot 130 hybrids better than anything - have gone to 1200 no problem, and tighter than all the other 140-142 gr i tried with Varget and H4350
I was actually amazed at the 130 hybrids... not much diff to 1000 over the 140's with trajectory and wind - actually better than most.

Factory loaded Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X did this 5 shot group at 250 yards.

Awesome. This is the next box I have lined up to run through my Bergara HMR.

I'm running 142gr Sierra HPBT #1742 with 42.1gr of H4350. Shoots 0.75" groups at 200 yards out of a 20" Tikka T3 CTR.

This is 0.2gr over Sierra's max load data for H4350, but I have not seen any pressure signs yet.

What a coincidence to find this thread. Had my Tikka T3X CTR in 6.5 CM delivered today. Right now have some of the 143 ELD-X loaded with H4350 for load development. Lots of good info on some of the others. Now I just have to get to the range

Hey guys not to derail this thread but i see a lot of you are running h4350 under your pills. I have 8# of imr4350 and am going to start loading for 6.5 in the near future. How does the imr compare to the hodgeon powder?

IMR4350 is very similar in burn rate to H4350 but they definitely are different. IMR is more susceptible to temperature variations than H is.

If you look around on the web, H4350 seems to be kind of the holy grail for 6.5 Creedmoor powders, but that isn't to say that others won't work and exhibit the same level of accuracy.
